Hillwalking Radio Club was formed in 2010 to provide safety communications for outdoor events across the Galtee mountains and it's environs. We are fully licensed by COMREG and all our members are trained as Community First Responders. Our club is built on the strenght of volunteers, the support of our community and friendships we have built up over the years.

We will be linking up with Ballylanders Special Needs Association to raise some cash for this very worthy group.Two fabulous walks are on the menu in Galbally on Monday 29th of December. Our Starlight Walk is to Darby's Bed where we will light up the megalithic site with all our head torches and lanterns, approx 2.5 hours. Have your camera phone ready for some nice nightlight photos. Our Lantern Walk will be through the village park with a visit to the Crib constructed by our local Men's Shed. We will then move on to the parish Grotto for a moments reflection. Suitable footwear and head torch essential, strictly no dogs allowed. Registeration is from 6.30pm at the Community Centre and both walk will begin at 7pm. Be sure to bring a candle, battery or a token to lay at the grotto in memory of a loved one. Everyone will regroup at the Community Centre for a chat over tea and refreshments where you will get a chance to talk to Kieran, Aine and Mairead of Ballylanders Special Needs Association. The enthusiasm of this group is phenomenal and if you would like to support them online click the DONATE button. Your support will make a great difference to someone's life.
