Hillwalking Radio Club was formed in 2010 to provide safety communications for outdoor events across the Galtee mountains and it's environs. We are fully licensed by COMREG and all our members are trained as Community First Responders. Our club is built on the strenght of volunteers, the support of our community and friendships we have built up with other clubs and organisations.
In May 2024 we were able to purchase a new Defibrillator, new waterproof radios and have all our members upskilled in basic life saving skills. We rely on contributions from indivudals, Clubs and organisations to purchase waterproof clothing, first aid supplies, purchase radio equipment and pay our insurance. We are grateful to all of you for for your continued support and please use the DONATE button or the QR Code in the drop down menu if you want to make a financial contribution.
THE RAMBLE 2025.
Saturday 6th of Sept 2025. It's that time of year again! We're thrilled to welcome all our friends back to Galbally for our annual Ramble on Saturday 6th of September 2025. Join members of Hillwalking Radio Club and the Morning Ramblers for a fantastic day of walking, chatting, and catching up with friends. We've got loads of spot prizes and some bubbly to keep the atmosphere lively. Your support for our First Responders means the world – every little bit counts! Come along and be part of it.
Again we will have two walks: Walk A to Darby's Bed, two hours moderate. Walk B will be on the new Jim Fahy Loop around Mooreabbey easy pace, 3klm. Sturdy footwear essential and no dogs allowed. Registration is at the Community Hall from 10am, walks start at 10.30am, There is no charge. By joining us, and giving a Donation you'll be supporting our amazing First Responders – every bit of support makes a difference. You can also DONATE online. Any queries ring 0860888145.
